Select Vehicle Spares are registered with the Environment Agency as an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) for End of Life Vehicles (ELV).

Authorised treatment facilities (ATFs) are permitted to accept waste motor vehicles. They comply with ELV and environmental permitting regulations. The hazardous waste regulations apply to end of life vehicles and affect how they should be handled and dealt with when they are processed.

The Environment Agency are responsible for ensuring that ATF sites in England comply with the current legislation. They monitor licensed permitted ATF sites to ensure that they are treating ELVs correctly. They also investigate and take action against operators of illegal sites that threaten the environment and undermine legitimate operators.

This basically means you can be comfortable buying used parts from us knowing that we are dismantling, recycling and disposing of waste vehicles in the correct manor and in a way which reduces damage to the environment.

When a vehicle arrives onsite, it is inspected and de-polluted before dismantling can begin. Over 90% of the vehicle is recycled including hazardous waste such as oils and batteries. Once the car has been completely stripped of re-saleable parts, a certificate of destruction (COD) is issued and a copy given to the previous owner. This informs the DVLA that the car has been destroyed and removes all legal responsibility from the owner.
